burning prayers
this is probably most appropriate for an act of confession, but could work with other types of prayer . everybody is given a piece of paper onto which they write either their names, or something that symbolises their sin . these are all nailed onto a wooden cross and a prayer is spoken. then the paper is set alight - a sign of Christ destroying sin.
[when we used this twice at Easter, each time the fire burnt out an egg shape of paper was left - a sign of new life. It was very effective though we can't guarantee that the same will happen for you - perhaps this has to do with the shape of the cross and the airflow around it?]
